Groundbreaking of HPAL Neo Energy Project Supports Green Energy Transition

Morowali, September 14, 2024 – PT Anugrah Neo Energy Materials (ANEM) held a Ground Breaking ceremony for the construction of a High-Pressure Acid Leaching (HPAL) smelter in the Neo Energy Morowali Industrial Estate (NEMIE) Industrial Estate.

This project is a big step in green energy-based nickel processing, which supports the production of environmentally friendly Electric Vehicle (EV) batteries.

The event was attended by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army, General Maruli Simanjuntak M.Sc, and the Governor of Central Sulawesi, Rusdy Mastura, who emphasized the importance of this initiative in supporting Indonesia’s green economy and reducing carbon emissions.

This smelter will utilize 100% green energy from water and solar power, with a target production of Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate (MHP) as much as 500,000 DMT per-year.

This project is expected to enhance Indonesia’s name by strengthening its position as a global supplier of environmentally friendly nickel, which supports the growing demand for the electric vehicle market alongside with its good impact on the environment.

Not only supporting the green energy transition, the development of HPAL is also expected to have a positive impact on the local economy through increased employment and employee training programs.

Besides the HPAL development project, Neo Energy through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program also strives to support the development of human resources, by providing scholarships for Indonesian students to continue their studies at Beijing University of Chemical Technology.

This program is expected to improve skills and create a superior workforce in the green energy sector.
