Life at Neo: Capturing Stories, Building Connections Through the Photography Club

At Neo Energy, we believe that a great workplace is built not only through collaboration and shared goals, but also through the little moments that bring people closer together. Maintaining a healthy work-life balance means making room for personal interests, creativity, and meaningful connections beyond our everyday responsibilities. Through Life at Neo, we celebrate the activities and communities that allow our people to unwind, discover new interests, and strengthen the bonds that make us more than just colleagues.

One of these initiatives is the Neo Energy Photography Club, where employees with a shared interest in photography can come together to learn, explore, and simply have fun. On October 10, 2026, the group gathered for a photo-hunting session in Kedunghalang, Bogor, followed by a friendly photography competition. More than a photography activity, the day became an opportunity for colleagues to step outside their usual routines, share experiences, and create memories together.

It’s Not About the Camera, It’s About the Experience

The session took place at a photography studio in Kedunghalang, a creative space equipped with professional lighting, props, and themed photography setups. The studio has welcomed photography enthusiasts and professionals from different countries, offering participants an inspiring environment to explore the art of capturing stories.

But what made the day special was not the equipment people brought or how experienced they were behind the camera. Some participants did not have their own cameras, yet that was never a reason to sit out. Colleagues came prepared with extra equipment, with some bringing two or three cameras to share with friends who needed one. Others joined with the cameras they had available, even with their phone’s camera, discovering that a good photograph is not simply about having the most sophisticated gear.

Throughout the session, participants learned from one another, experimented with different cameras, and explored how angles, lighting, composition, and timing could transform a moment into something memorable. There was room to try, make mistakes, ask questions, and learn together. The spirit was simple: you do not have to be an expert to join. If you are willing to learn, eager to participate, and passionate about trying something new, there is a place for you.

And, of course, there was plenty of laughter along the way. Between shots, colleagues found themselves amused by one another’s intensely serious expressions and dramatic poses while looking through their viewfinders. Behind those focused faces were shared jokes, spontaneous conversations, and the excitement of trying something new together. Those little moments became just as memorable as the photographs themselves, reminding everyone that the experience was about enjoying the process, not just getting the perfect shot.

A Friendly Competition, A Shared Achievement

Running from 2:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., the photo-hunting session gave participants time to explore their creativity, exchange ideas, and discover new perspectives. Each person was encouraged to submit one favorite photograph for a friendly competition, giving everyone an opportunity to share the results of their efforts.

There were two winners selected. Edy Santi received first place with Pak Tua, while Lutfi Khoirul Anam secured second place with Fatmawati.

While the competition added a fun challenge to the activity, the real achievement went beyond the results. Every participant had the chance to learn something new, share their perspective, and appreciate the creativity of others.

More Than a Hobby, It’s About Us

The Photography Club reflects the spirit of Life at Neo: creating opportunities for employees to connect beyond their job titles, discover shared interests, and build relationships in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

You do not need to be an experienced photographer, own professional equipment, or have everything figured out before joining. Sometimes, all it takes is curiosity, a willingness to learn, and colleagues who are happy to share what they have. By creating spaces where people can support one another, exchange skills, and enjoy time together, Neo Energy continues to encourage employee engagement and a healthier balance between professional responsibilities and personal fulfillment.

Because at the end of the day, the best part is not always the photograph we take. It is the people beside us, the things we learn from one another, and the laughter we share along the way.

Through Life at Neo, we look forward to more activities that bring our people together, celebrate their interests, and remind us that even outside the workplace, there is always room to learn, connect, and grow as one community.
