Biography

Mr. Eddy Pratomo is a distinguished diplomat, legal expert, and public policy advisor with over 30 years of experience in international relations, diplomacy, and legal affairs. He began his career in 1982 at Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, serving as Section Head of Humanitarian Affairs in the Directorate of International Organisations under the Directorate General of Politics. His work laid the foundation for a career that would span both bilateral and multilateral diplomacy, public service, and academic leadership.

Throughout his diplomatic career, Mr. Pratomo has held several senior positions representing Indonesia on the global stage. From 2004 to 2006, he served as Deputy Head of Mission and Acting Ambassador at the Indonesian Embassy in London. He later became Director General of Law and International Treaties Affairs from 2006 to 2009, overseeing Indonesia’s international legal frameworks and treaty negotiations. His service culminated in his appointment as Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Federal Republic of Germany, a position he held until 2013.

In addition to his diplomatic roles, Mr. Pratomo has advised governments and institutions on international legal and strategic matters. He served as Legal Advisor to the Senior Minister of Foreign Affairs of Timor-Leste, Special Staff to the Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives on foreign relations, and from 2015 to 2018, as Special Envoy to the President of Indonesia for maritime boundary negotiations with Malaysia.

Today, Mr. Pratomo continues to contribute to legal education and policy development as Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Pancasila in Jakarta and as a Visiting Professor at the University of Diponegoro in Semarang. His wealth of diplomatic, legal, and academic experience makes him a highly respected voice in Indonesian and international affairs.
