Biography

Mr. Hong Kah Ing is an accomplished corporate leader with over 15 years of experience in the natural resources sector – and nearly 30 years of overall professional experience spanning finance, information technology, and mining. As President Commissioner of Neo Energy Group, he has been the visionary driving force behind the company’s growth and strategic transformation. Mr. Hong is renowned for his expertise in business development, operations management, and cross-border transactions, and for charting an innovative path toward sustainable growth in the nickel industry. 

Mr. Hong began his career in finance and technology, rising through the ranks at MBf Leasing and PT MBf Multi-Finance before founding PT Bina Mitra Serasi (later PT Hicom BMS), where he led nationwide airport security system implementations. In 2005, he transitioned into natural resources, heading Bumi Hijau Pte. Ltd., and later becoming President Commissioner of PT Anugrah Tambang Sejahtera, the precursor to Neo Energy Group. From 2018 to 2022, he served as CEO of SGX-listed Silkroad Nickel, where he successfully led a S$110 million privatization, paving the way for downstream expansion. Since 2022, as President Commissioner and CEO of Neo Energy, he has spearheaded major investments in HPAL refining and renewable energy, demonstrating that sustainable downstream nickel production is both viable and profitable.

Under his stewardship, Neo Energy Group has evolved from a traditional mine into a green vertically-integrated enterprise with operations in upstream mining, downstream processing, and renewable energy power. This integrated strategy positions the company as a significant player in the electric vehicle (EV) battery value chain. Mr. Hong’s forward-looking vision and proven leadership make him exceptionally fit for his role, as he guides Neo Energy toward a sustainable future in an era when clean energy and resource stewardship are paramount.
