Biography

Mr. Syed Abdel Nasser Bin Syed Hassan Aljunied is a highly accomplished executive with over 30 years of experience in international banking, finance, and strategic leadership. His career reflects a consistent track record of excellence in business development, cross-border derivatives transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and private equity across multiple sectors and geographies.

In the 1990s, Mr. Aljunied began his career in FX trading and asset management, serving as Assistant Vice President at both Chase Manhattan  Bank and Smith Barney Shearson Asset Management. During this time, he managed complex discretionary portfolios with a focus on foreign exchange, interest rate instruments, and derivatives. He later advanced to become Director of the Foreign Exchange and Fixed Income Group at Swiss Bank Corporation, and subsequently joined Credit Suisse First Boston as Director, where he led the Asian FX and Fixed Income Derivatives desk within the Emerging Markets Group.

Beyond his accomplishments in banking, Mr. Aljunied has held influential board and advisory roles across diverse industries. He has held board positions at Atlantic Oilfield Services Ltd. and SGX-listed Maveric, where he served as Independent Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee, providing extensive financial oversight and governance expertise. Furthermore, he was a board member and significant shareholder at CMS Trust Berhad and CMS Asset Management.

In 2022, Mr. Aljunied played a key leadership role in the successful Voluntary General Offer (VGO) to privatize SGX-listed Silkroad Nickel Ltd., a transaction valued at SG$110 million that resulted in the company’s strategic delisting. He currently serves as Deputy President Commissioner of PT Anugrah Neo Energy Materials, where he is focused on steering strategic initiatives and capital investment efforts in the energy and mining sectors, particularly within Indonesia’s fast-growing nickel and battery materials value chain.
