Transforming Energy with Sustainable Materials & Future-Forward Battery Solutions
PT Anugrah Neo Energy Materials (ANEM) and China ENFI Engineering Corporation (ENFI) have officially signed a Framework Agreement for the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) of a High-Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) Smelter Plant, along with supporting facilities such as a sulphuric acid plant, living village, and ancillary infrastructure. This significant project will be developed in Neo Energy Morowali Industrial Estate (NEMIE), located in Morowali, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia.
The purpose of this agreement is to establish the foundation for a collaborative partnership and ensure both parties are aligned on the project’s framework. The agreement, resulting from a two-week contract negotiation workshop held in November, demonstrates a shared commitment to advancing this transformative project. While specific details of the HPAL plant cannot yet be disclosed, it is worth highlighting that the plant will be powered by fully green electricity, showcasing PT ANEM’s dedication to sustainability. The Framework Agreement will evolve into a definitive agreement at a later stage, further solidifying the collaboration.
This agreement marks a milestone in the partnership between PT ANEM and ENFI. Both companies recognize the importance of delivering world-class industrial solutions to support the development of Indonesia’s nickel industry, which is vital for global energy transition goals. The agreement also reflects the commitment of both organizations to maintaining momentum and ensuring the project’s timely delivery.
The preparatory phase for the signing began over six months ago, involving continuous communication between the two parties. This culminated in an intensive two-week negotiation workshop in November, leading to the formal signing in December.
PT ANEM is an Indonesian domestic investment company at the forefront of developing sustainable energy materials. With its flagship Neo Energy Morowali Industrial Estate (NEMIE), ANEM is committed to advancing critical infrastructure to support the production of battery materials for electric vehicles (EVs), including high-purity nickel and cobalt.
China ENFI Engineering Corporation (ENFI) is a globally recognized leader in smelter technology and engineering. As a subsidiary of Metallurgical Corporation of China (MCC), ENFI brings decades of expertise in R&D, patented technologies, and world-class solutions to the metallurgical industry. Their selection as PT ANEM’s partner reflects their proven track record of successfully delivering cutting-edge smelter projects worldwide.
This partnership represents the first collaboration between PT ANEM and ENFI. With ENFI’s extensive technological expertise and PT ANEM’s vision for sustainable nickel development, the two companies are well-positioned to deliver a landmark HPAL facility.
The signing ceremony was a significant occasion attended by key representatives from both organizations. Notably, the Chairman of MCC, Mr. Liu Cheng, and Vice President Ms. An Jing, traveled from Beijing, China, to witness the momentous event. Their presence underlines the importance of the agreement and the commitment of ENFI’s leadership to the project’s success.
The signing of this Framework Agreement signifies a pivotal step toward realizing a state-of-the-art HPAL smelter facility that aligns with Indonesia’s industrial and environmental goals. With both parties committed to collaboration, the project is expected to contribute significantly to sustainable nickel production and support the global transition to clean energy. This initiative reflects ANEM’s and ENFI’s shared vision for innovation, sustainability, and delivering impactful solutions for the energy and materials sectors.
